Until now, the idea of recording an all acoustic CD hasnt had much appeal. The CDs Ive done this far have all been full band, and full out slick productions. My first three releases are examples of what I usually hear when songs come to me. You know those little voices inside. This time I wanted to take a ride down a different street. So I asked myself a question. Do these songs all come to me in my sleep, and wake me up when they're all shiny and neat? There is another way songs wake me up. They wake me as thoughts. As a word that kind of sounds cool next to another word. Maybe its a groove, or the way I saw two people look at each other on the subway. But how does all this tie together? It all ties together when the music shows up. The common thread is the music.
An old friend in the form of a red Guild 6 string is always there to remind me that the bare bones music is the constant.
Bands, sounds, trends, and people come and go, but under it all there is a song. Yes, under all that crap there is a song. So, what is the best way to capture the energy of a song? Whats the best way? I dont think there is just one way. Then I thought, at least half of all the shows I play every year are all acoustic! Do you think Im overlooking something here?
Well Duuhhh!
As everything continues to change...
This recording is an example, my interpretation of the bare bones music staying constant.
This is me & red.
